There is a display of some of my work in the Green Room at the Customs House in South Shields. A retrospective exhibition with work from 40 years ago – pencil drawings and water colours of my delivery bike, sadly given away due to lack of space and allotments in Leazes Park no longer there, among other studies. Then through to – right up to date – some of my most recent etchings and collagraph prints. I’ll be posting photographs of the display on Saturday this week. It’s free to have a look and enjoy a cup of tea at the same time – however you will have to pay for the tea….! I really enjoy the space in the Customs House and the surrounding environment, near the Tyne ferry crossing.
I’m also teaching a ‘four week Journal’ making masterclass on 28th November 10am – 3pm in the Customs House. Cost £15 per person. Full details of how to find out more and book a place on the Customs House website. See here for examples of my 4 week journals – you can learn how to make them and stitch your own personalised versions. We’ll be making tissue laminate papers using recycled materials – for example sweet wrappers, nets from vegetables, dried leaves anything and everything that looks interesting that can be pressed and glued between sheets of tissue. When you’ve learnt how to make one you will have the information to make as many as you can find time for at home with the minimum of equipment.
