Moonkwayk Studio artists’ books – new titles for 2017

TALEs of Topsy – a collaborative book between myself, as book designer and June Allen a North East artist who has illustrated and written her account of her family’s joy and laughter with their rescued lurcher Topsy. Prints from the lino block, above, made by myself, will be printed on the endpapers – June’s lovely watercolour sketches will be reproduced in full colour throughout the book. I will be setting letterpress for the text on the cover of the paperback version.

Special limited edition of bound books that will have hand printed letterpress and hand painted illustrations throughout will also be available at a later date.

TALEs of Topsy handmade paperback version, with handprinted lino block cover and lino block endpapers, scanned digital colour prints on high quality paper throughout will be £12 each.

a Rook’s Tale is a collaboration between myself and the photographer Mike Herringshaw. Mike took outstanding black and white photographs of the Central Station, Newcastle upon Tyne in 1977. His images of rushing commuters and the iconic static station backdrop are combined with my digital and hand print work to create a book that concerns flight from the humdrum.

These books are 2 of the new titles I will be selling in 2017 – to add to the Moonkwayk Studio handmade books already for sale on my stall in Tynemouth Market, every sunday and also in Moonkwayk’s online Etsy shop.

Information about when both titles are ready for sale will be posted in the near future, ( hopefully mid April 2017).
